XS to the World

My dentist, Jan Willem, is one clever dude.

When he started off his practice he and some friends created dental management software that is now used all over the Netherlands and now he's involved in something really cool.

It's a mobile phone translator. So you can go anywhere and ask anything! Next time we go to France I am using this product!

The phone speaks the sentences out loud and gives you a written version on the screen so that you can show it to the person you're talking to. Handy for people speaking dialects. I think for people going to places like China and Japan where the languages are so completely different from our Western languages this would be a godsend.

I wonder what makes some people so able to take an idea and move it from idea to actuality? There must be some kind of determination that they have that ordinary people (like me) don't have.

Everyone who speaks Dutch should go watch the clips from NOS and RTL4 on the website under 'In the Media'.

They're really interesting to watch.

Don't you just love people who come up with smart stuff?

I totally should have had that when I tried to find my way around down town cairo on my own.
