A peaceful life is highly underestimated

Yesterday I had quite a day.
I won't go into the details, but you can picture phone calls from foreign countries, people screeching, general mayhem, tears, drama, soap-opera stylee, whatever. Anyone who has a soap-opera family will immediately know what I'm talking about.
Luckily the kids weren't home.
Their dad came home early and when we picked them up from school they were overjoyed, and I mean, totally overjoyed to see him. It was great.
Later I had their parent-teacher conferences so he got to babysit while I went to talk about their futures. Everything was good, my kids are happy.
The teachers even said it in English for me, 'Je kinderen zijn echt 'happy', hoor!'
I am so proud of them!
In the evening over supper we were talking about how it's not ok for people to scream at each other and say hurtful things, even if they feel them.
That sometimes, ok, most, if not all of the time, it's better to shut up and put up than to voice one's feelings in a hostile manner, especially if doing so then leads to an irrevocable breakdown in communications.
Brad said something to the kids which really rung true.
He said,
'A peaceful life is a wonderful thing. When you are older people will tell you that it's boring to have a quiet life, but it's not.'
I agree. 100%.
Bring on the peaceful life!

Like the Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." Yep, contentment, peace ... great things. Elusive, too.
I am so sorry to hear of your family woes. I have a soap-opera family sometimes too, tho' thankfully everyone's tried to tone it down a bit these past years...
I couldn't agree more!
Spectacular tulips by the way!
People tend to forget the effects of words when writing emails or having a phone "conversation". Sometimes it's easier to say things when you are not face to face and literally see the effects of your words, but in general...
I think we all have our bit of soap opera stories I'm afraid. I never thought I had such family but eh well, seems I do. ("luckily" it's the extended family in our case). Hold on to the good things and yr own little family. Brad is so right. Cherish!
Great tulips btw!
I always say life will deliver heartache and drama to your door; you don't need to create any on your own.

The tulips are so pretty and vibrant!
