And then there was proof of knitting ...

I do still make stuff! I knitted this sweater for Joe using Jaeger extra fine DK merino in Ocean with some ecru no-name brand DK interspersed because I was afraid of running out of the Jaeger. Good thing I put the stripes in too, because I had just enough of the blue to sew the sweater together. I bought seven balls. Next time I'll buy eight!
The pattern is from the Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns. After years of making drop shoulder sweaters I was excited to see the pattern for a saddle shoulder sweater. It makes knitting a simple sweater just a little more interesting. The saddles sit nicely over his shoulders and the fit seems a little more comfortable than a drop shoulder.
I selected brioche stitch which feels so soft and cuddly. For the neckline I knitted a poloneck and then folded it over and stitched it down. I like how the cast off in the ecru makes such a neat line against the blue of the sweater. I left the side of the neck open because Joe absolutely hates pulling things over his head.
Now onto the next one, which will be a sweater in Jaeger Elderberry for Sebastian. I'm thinking just a simple stocking stitch pattern with a garter stitch stripe across the chest.

They look lovely and warm!
That is one fabulous sweater, Ash! And one fabulous boy too!
What a lovely boy...and a lovely sweater!!! It's a shame that winters in the Netherlands are not what they used to be, with lots of snow and ice!
Wow! It looks so cozy, I especially love the colour combo. I've only started knitting so a sweater is like the Mt Everest of projects for me!
Well done, that looks really warm & cosy, & doesn't your little boy look angelic! Jackie.

It's so perfect for Joe! And he's adorable in it!! :)
