A Scandinavian Sweater

Joe's Scandinavian Knit

Oh, the model was so restless! Refusing to sit still and lording it over his brother because he can roll his tongue and his brother can't. How weird is that? All of the rest of us can, and poor Seb can't. Must be some genetic throwback although wikipedia says that what we were taught in school about genetic dominance with regard to this specific trait is wrong. Phew, now Brad can rest easy with all those questions about paternity that we didn't have to bring up. ;)

Let's move on quickly to the information about the knit. I used the same wool that I used for Joe's bear's knit and surprise, the same pattern. In this jersey the colourway is reversed. The wool was the same brand and although I thought the red was too bright when I started knitting it, look how lovely it is on him! I loved doing the snowflake and the mini-jersey was good practice for the stranding that needed to happen across the back of the work. The bigger version was much tidier than my first efforts on the bear's jumper. The best part of this knit was the zigzag border.

I used the same needles as the previous jersey. In fact everything was the same, except the colourway and the size. I measured Joe, then chose the size nearest his chest measurement which I then lengthened to match a Benetton sweater he has which fits perfectly. My kids have long arms and long bodies and are tall, but have very thin bodies. Both of them have a similar chest measurement which is that of a three year old on the charts!

I love the collar on this sweater, it pulls over his head beautifully. The next one I knit will probably have the same collar, but I'll make up a fairisle pattern to include that gorgeous zig-zag pattern. Joe looks beautiful and the red, white and grey really pop against his blue-eyed, fair-haired gorgeousness :) Not that I'm a proud mom or anything!

That sweater is beyond beautiful and oh-so-cozy.

I love pulling out my sweaters and jackets in the fall. I have more than I want to admit.

Gorgeous sweater, Mom!!!

And Seb isn't alone - I'm the only non-tongue-roller in my family! LOL

Ashleigh, is this another sweater from your Debbie Bliss book "How to knit"? I have to get the book, I think it might help me with the Quaker pin balls and to refresh my knitting skills. Would love to try and make a sweater. Your boys are beautiful children, you have every right to be proud.
