I wonder sometimes how I can feel such huge affection for my children and still be alive. It's all consuming. I sometimes wish more than anything that we could just freeze everything at a single moment in time and save them the pain, heartbreak and misery of growing up.
My, don't I sound miserable!
Let's get back to the original topic quick like!
Today saw in the auspicious occasion of the loss of the very first baby tooth!
It's been loose for weeks, but every time there was any attempt to get it out there would be blood and as soon as there was blood there would be subsequent wailing.
Every football match was met with the antiicipation (me) and terror (him) of it possibly coming out during a tackle.
Eventually, by today, the tooth was actually hanging on by it's last straw and threatening to bend horizontal every time he ate something.
So I lay him on my lap, yakked on about something else (I'm very good at that), and gave one sharp tug. Then I told him to get up and he walked around bemused for a bit, unconscious of the fact that his tooth was now safely hidden in my hand.
After a few moments he felt the space with his tongue and was incredibly surprised that there was no tooth present. Then we took photos.
He has decided that the tooth fairy does not exist and that I must be the tooth fairy.
Bloomin' enormous fairy if it really is me. I didn't think they let fairies get to this size ;)
We shall see what the fairy brings in the night.

You're right, your son is just beautiful! Now that Pelle is no longer a baby I go through moments like these all the time; wishing I could keep him safe with me for ever. Ah well, before you know it, they'll have a 'fietsenrek', just like your baby! I'm pretty curious about that fairie as well...
Ash -- our tooth fairy (Mike) once left 2 quarters, a Susan B. Anthony dollar, and a Chimpies Token (a game token at an arcade and pizza place that has now closed down). Matt, who was used to getting 4 quarters, was very disappointed until I explained to him that he had actually gotten more money than he usually got.
Ash,
Your son does have beautiful eyes!
HI Ash,
What a handsome little guy! And even without his front tooth . I say, he has some wonderful sheen in that hair too, and what a lovely color it is. Can see why you would be so proud, and well, it is as it should be. Mom's should absolutely love their children, and think the best of them always. I also ready your story about the chicken ..you're good! I roasted a nice piece of beef tonight, which will be used for another meal and sandwiches for us later in the week. I also roasted a chicken which will be served with stuffing and veggies tomorrow and chicken gravy from the drippings. I also plan to make some chicken enchiladas with aprt of it, and a casserole we call Chalupa made with muschroom soup, green chili, the chopped chicken...fried corn tortillas that are layered with longhorn cheese and diced onion, then the chicken and chili liquid, you keep layering utnil it is all used up, and then pop it in the oven with a last sprinkling of cheese on top. Great served with pinto beans which you can also cook in that pressure cooker of yours, and a bit of chopped ledttuce and tomato as a garnish, iced tea and a great dinner. If there is any chicken left afer this it will be chicken salad for my DH's lunch . I too get a lot out of my meat these days and it oes make planning meals a lot eaiser .

Congratulations Seb!
Quinn also doesn't believe in the tooth farie/mouse etc, and Griffin has started questioning it all too, so we may not make it to Christmas with the charade in tact.
Damn and I was enjoying it so much! :)
Seb does indeed have gorgeous eyes! My twins have green eyes like that too. Kevin has a shirt the exact color green as his eyes and wow does that color pop out when he wears that shirt!

Gorgeous boy. It is such a grown-up step, losing a tooth. We're going through the same thing here, but my daughter would never allow me to pull her 1st very loose tooth out!
