Yesterday I broke the Mouse.

The Black & Decker Mouse. The sander that is supposed to be perfect for reaching into corners and doing specialised work. The one that is designed for women.

Brad used it on one of the door frames while I scurried around covering everything to try and avoid a thick layer of wood dust forming (it didn't help). Then his hands got tired so I gave it a go.

After ten minutes I switched it off to ask Brad something and it never switched back on!

We checked if it had overheated. Brad undid the housing and looked inside. The switch still works, the connection works. It appears I 'overdrove' it and killed the motor.

Sadly, we bought it more than 2 years ago and the warranty has expired. We'd only used it a couple of times over the two years but now, just when we needed it most, I broke it.

We went and bought another one* and one of these powered screwdrivers for Brad.

So I've been mousing around today. Heh.

I scrubbed the tiles with the special 'non-woven' pad, then I sanded the extra grout off the tiles. Brad painted the bathroom walls with a special anti-chalking undercoat and painted the ceiling with 'anti-moisture' paint. The anti-moisture paint ran out so I have to go get some more so we can do the walls.

We've got a bit of tiling to do, the bathroom furniture arrives on Wednesday then Brad will put that together, while I stand around being 'helpful' and probably the first week in July we'll get the plumber in to do the connections. After that we have to tile the toilet floor and paint the toilet room and the toilet room tiles.

Funny thing about the Mouse breaking is that the guy in the store said they never had a return on one of those. My friend (who happened to be in the store at the same time) said that its because girls aren't supposed to do that kind of work ;)

The doorframes are still in progress. It's going to take a long time.

Today's pic is of Seb lying on the sofa this morning. They had a haircut yesterday with their dad and so everyone looks all fresh and interesting (except me).

* Why oh why does the Mouse cost 70 euros here in its case with its attachments and it costs $39.99 in the US? 'Market can support it' crap I suppose. Gah.

Oh, the joys and woes of a home reno! Even when others are doing the big jobs, there are those small ones created that can become so frustrating. Hang in there Ashleigh!
