I stitched this charming design from Sylvie Tonnelier at Au Fil des Reves as an exchange gift for Chris OR on the Legacy Board. Chris organised the Sampler Lady Exchange for Legacy and I was lucky enough to be partnered with her! She has received her package now so I can post!
I substituted threads as follows:
DMC to GAST: 938 to Sarsaparilla, 469 to Chamomile, 3733 to Poinsettia, 743 to Summer Meadow and 712 to Buttermilk. I also used DMC 816 and 819 as called for.
For the finishing I changed the needlebook slightly and included two wool felt needlepages and a buttoned pincushion. I used two coordinating fabrics - a stripe from my quilting stash and a green vine fabric I found at the fabric store. The bag is lined with the green fabric which is then folded over and hand-stitched down to contrast with the striped upper edge.
Click for closeups of the scissor fob and needlecase front showing the first fold, centre back, and open showing the front fold. The front fold reveals the second Sampler Lady that was the theme for this exchange.
It was a pleasure to stitch and finish and I put my finishing skills to good use making the lined bag and needlecase (with a few calls to my mom to ask her opinion)!
