Ackworth Quaker Biscornu

A Redwork Biscornu Redwork Biscornu Pattern (c) Jacqueline Holdsworth Ackworth Quaker Pattern Book.
As my biscornu has arrived with Danielle I can share a picture!

This was stitched for the SBEBB Biscornu Exchange (which Danielle was coordinating) on 32 count Light Tan fabric with Gloriana Poinsettia floss. I finished the biscornu with Olive Green 32 ct at the back and a mother of pearl button. The Quaker pattern comes from the Ackworth books. I chose a pattern with tulips because I wanted it to represent Holland in some way. It was really enjoyable to stitch and finish. I used this set of diagrams for the finishing.

To emphasise the points of the cushion (and because I didn't use tassels or any other kind of ornamentation on the corners), I ran a running stitch around both the front and the back before doing the backstitch that joins up the cushion.

I hope it adds to your redwork collection, Danielle!

Today we are going to the Linnaeushof and the weather is fantastic! I got sunburnt yesterday and today I'll be using suncream :0

On a completely different note, in case you haven't seen it before, take a look at Subversive Cross Stitch. I personally like saccharine cross stitch sayings, but this made me laugh ;) I can think of a few recipients where it would give me utmost joy to spend time working one of these charts for them! Here's the link to the reviews on Amazon.

Finally, what to do with those crayon stubs? Martha has an answer!

The biscornu is absolutely gorgeous Ash. :)

And I loved the Hallmark of Felinity clips, they had me chuckling all the way to bed last night :)

your biscornu has turned out great! the pictures are showing very clearly how to do this, so maybe I'll be as courageous to try one day...
I love the crayon-idea, but I'm afraid I throw them all out earlier.

Hi Ash,
Yes, I love it! I have a few different stitched gifts now that are all redwork! I love the running stitch you used on the edging--that was a nice touch, and I might have to borrow that when I do some finishing as well! :)

I am so pleased to see what lovely items you are making from the Ackworth patterns - it is a real joy to see them being used to inspire new work.
Thank you for making Ackworth live! I think the Ackworth schoolgirls would have liked to make this also!
Kindest and best regards - and keep stitching and making more beautiful items for generations to admire!
Jacqueline
