The playdoh is still in residence ...

I took Joe to the dr this afternoon and she had a look in his nose, and she doesn't believe that the bleeding and the smell and running nose are from the playdoh that he put up there.

She says that he is only 3 and a half therefore he must be lying about putting it up there and in addition having it stay in his nose for a couple of weeks won't harm him! So, he is still miserable, the playdoh is in his nose still (I assume) and we get to go back in two weeks if his nose is still seeping.

Gah.

I generally hate whining on blogs, but I'm about to partake of a bit of whine with my cheese ...

I saw the surgeon yesterday and asked him when I would feel better. its now three weeks post op and I am terribly tired and still have a fair amount of pain around my ribs.

The surgeon laughed at me and reminded me that a few years ago people had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks for this same operation and that just because the incisions on the outside have healed doesn't mean the inside is healed up yet. He said that the inside would have quite a lot of swelling and bleeding still.

So, I asked the million dollar question about when I would feel better and he says a month! He and his nurse also gave me a talking to about lifting Joe. Joe has this habit of lying on the floor and screeching and then I have to heft him to get him to do anything. They saw me walking past the window when I was on the way to my appointment and guess what? I was carrying Joe.

I asked about sport and when I can go back to gym and he said 4 - 6 weeks or 'when I feel ready'. I am really missing the gym. I miss the time alone and the time to just think, plus I miss the exercise endorphins too!

Then they put the cherry on top of the cake by asking me if I had considered a vacation! I felt like saying, 'f course I've considered a vacation! I would love a vacation, but who's going to pay for it?' Hehe.

The other thing I have to whine about is that I managed to scratch my car whilst parking yesterday and got myself into such a fix that someone had to come and help me get out of the parking spot!

Aargh! I'll never try fit in such a small parking spot again!

Thanks for all the comments about Joe and the good wishes. It means a lot!

I'm sorry you're feeling a bit low Ash. Even just the general anaethestic will knock you about for a few days though, so do take it easy if you can. Have some real wine with that whine! :)

As for playdoh up the nose - well, if Joe said he put it up there I expect he did. No reason to lie about that is there?! Let's hope it works its way out somehow.

Those kids do the darnedest things, don't they! Hope it all clears out soon. And I'm sure that as a mom you're just not able to relax as you should to heal as quickly as possible. Try to be good to yourself! :D

Ash,

When you're operating in first gear you still have more energy than I have in third! Re-read your blog from these last few weeks and see all that you've accomplished: spring cleaning, stitching, cooking, birthday celebrations, etc. You amaze me. It's hard to keep a good woman down and soon you'll be up to speed. What we need is some spring weather!

I'm so sorry you're still feeling blah Ash. It is *so* hard to take it easy when you have a child this age. I have to say (re. the playdoh) - I can't really understand why the Dr would say Joe would be lying about putting it up there. In my own experience (DS is only a little younger), 3 year olds are truthful almost to a fault!

Your doctor (for Joe's play-doh) sounds a lot like one I used to have ... It just amazes me that some people want to go into medicine and then stay in it when it's so obvious they're lousy doctors. He's three, therefore he lies? Give me a break!

As for your own health, could anyone give you any tips for how to live without picking Joe up and doing the other heavy-Mommy-jobs that come with the territory? That would seem the sensible route. Maybe you could see a physiotherapist for ways to minimize the impact?

I'm over here in Gouda rooting for you. Take care!!
