A Calendar of Events

This was a round robin that I joined in January 2004 with some ladies from the Aion board. Irene, Julia, Tina, Mary, Crystal, Jan, Marilyn, myself and one other (whose name isn't in the little booklet I sent around with the RR!) stitched on this piece. When it came back to me there were still three squares to be stitched and because we had some trouble with the circulation of the RR I was annoyed at that point and put it away until later. Finally I got it out in January and completed it! I stitched January, March, May and August. Crystal stitched November, Tina chose December, Mary stitched April, Jan chose October, Irene chose September and Marilyn stitched June. I'm not sure which month Julia chose, possibly February.
Now that its done I really like it! I am envisaging it framed in an antiqued looking frame in my kitchen somewhere. You may notice that its stitched on aida cloth, which is not one of my favourites but I remember when I started this I considered substituting linen and tried it out but then decided the oatmeal coloured aida accentuated the 'homespun' look.
Now my dilemma revolves around what to do next. I am trying to reduce my WIPs. I have:
- The CA Wells Sewing Companion from my class in November - whitework which makes it too hard to work on while I feel unwell.
- Emie Bishop Linen Band Sampler - which I am not loving after my cutting mistake last year.
- Judy Dixon Mixed Stitch Sampler from Classic Stitches - too hard while I feel sick.
- Lavender and Lace Celtic Christmas - this one I could continue with but I need to reweave a thread that pulled out, and unpick a section of skirt. This looks a likely contender as there isn't much left to stitch on her.
- Amy Mitten - Forgery #1 Margaret Muir - I could do this too - its on 28 count so not too difficult
- Eileen Bennett's Band of Many Colours - too complicated - 36 ct and fiddly
- Indigo Rose Photo Album - I could do this one
- Permin Celle Sampler - 40 ct
- French Alphabet Sampler - I already have this in my rotation and I will complete the second page in January before I pick anything else up.
So, it looks like a toss-up between Indigo Rose, Lavender and Lace and Amy Mitten. Tomorrow I'll receive my Spring Exchange partner for the SBEBB from Jo, so that will give me something else to stitch in between but ... which WIP do you think I should choose to focus on next?

What a stunning round robin! You were so lucky to get it back, after going around all those girls! It will look great framed on your kitchen wall.
Ash - your blog is soooooo wonderful - I can see I need to spend some time here reading your wonderful blog. Love the RR - great accomplishment - glad you are feeling up to stitching! I vote for Celle 1826 - mine is woefully neglected - Hugs Melody
HI Ash,
I think you ought to finish the Celtic Christmas, it would be a quick one, since you don't have much to go on it, and you'll be so glad to have it finished. I have this one as a UFO also, but I am not clsoe to being finished with it. About half done..maybe...I'll look forward to seeing you finish this one. Do let me see a pic of it when you finish, okay :-) Cathy
HI Ash,
Forgot to say I love your finished 'calendar' piece...very nice. Colorful and cheerful will be niec in your kitchen I'm sure! Also, you and I have the Permin Celle in common as well -- I am going to get back to stitching mine soon, and I may even pull out my Celtic Christmas as my UFO of the moment . I want to get some of those old projects worked and out of my basket this year. I"m aiming for at least 5 of them -- we'll see if I am focused enough to get them done. I have enough in there to keep me in stitches for years at this rate . Cathy C
Wonderful finish to your RR - and I think the aida looks great :) As for what to stitch next, from experience I say whatever is easy to concentrate on ... I vote for L&L :) The great thing about hospital recovery is all the extra stitching time you get while you're getting pampered! ;P
I vote for the Amy Mitten. All that red is sure to cheer you up after the surgery. :)
