Crowned Heart - a Tiny Pain in the *&* Sampler!

by Ashleigh

So I decided to stitch a gift for someone and chose Crowned Heart - A Tiny Gift Sampler from Blue Ribbon Designs.

First of all, the stitch count on the pattern was wrong, and I hadn't re-checked the website (where a notice has now been posted) so I didn't know. This meant I spent an awful lot of time last night counting and re-counting stitches on the charts. Its meant to be 61 x 53, and was marked as 71 x 54 or something like that. I merrily stitched on after establishing the correct stitch count only to find this morning that I stitched 60 x 53! Gah!

Now I have some motifs that don't sit so well and I have tried to compensate and move some stuff around in the piece, but it may look too cluttered now. I think its a lovely chart, but I wish I hadn't made that silly mistake on it!

I guess I can call it an 'antique reproduction' if it has lots of improperly placed motifs in it, right? ;)

It's neccesary, frustrating but possible now a days, to check designers websites to avoid trouble, I've bin there, done that! ;o)
I would love to see a photo though...
The 'antique reproduction' is a keeper! :o)

Haha, I'll have to remember that "antique reproduction" answer for the future ;) What a right royal pain for you - doncha hate it when that happens? Look forward to seeing this stitched up, as I've got it printed off to stitch 'one day' (I think I'd better check the stitch count on it before I forget...)

Wow, glad I read about the problems with this chart, since it is something I'd hoped to do in the very near future!

Well, I am almost all the way around the whole thing now, and I'm going to have to unpick the one side and two flowers on the corners. No way am I unpicking the over one! So, I'll compensate there. Basically it means my piece will be two stitches shorter widthways and the motif now comes up to the side, without leaving a stitch in between. I'll show you a pic when its made up :)

Thanks for stopping by Tanya! I like having new readers :) I don't always reply to all the comments, but I do read them all!
