Victoria Sampler Dutch Heart HD

I finished this yesterday, isn't it sweet? It has been my take-along project to the sandpit, playground, hospital, etc and it finished up pretty quickly.

I assembled it using two pieces of mat board, glued batting to them, ran a gathering stitch around the edge of the fabric pieces and ran a line of glue around the edge of the other side of the mat board, then gathered up the fabric and stuck it down. I inserted a little extra padding under the front side of the heart.

Then I trimmed the excess fabric off the back, glued the two pieces together and stood them under a weight to dry. I slipstitched the sides together, then made cording.

I folded the cording in half, tied an overhand knot about 1.5 inches down from the centre point to make the hanger, then started in the centre of the heart and pinned the cording in place. I slipstitched the cording down with the same colour DMC, then tied another overhand knot at the bottom of the heart and trimmed the ends of the cord to the same length after tying a knot in the end of each to keep them from unravelling.
