Look what I spent yesterday doing! This is Strawberries so Faire from With My Needle. You can buy this chart at your LNS or ONS. Mine came from Lois at Elegant Stitch. The best thing about buying from Lois (other than that the parcels come really promptly and she is a pleasure to deal with!) is that she serges the edges of your linen, so its all ready to start immediately - makes it much less effort.
I love this accessory - it is soooo tiny and cute! For an indication of size, it fits in my hand perfectly. The little velvet pincushion on the one side is gorgeous and I think the strawberries for the fob are very sweet.
The first picture shows the strawberry sewing roll rolled up.
The second shows the inside of the sewing roll unrolled.
The third shows the outside view unrolled.
It is stitched on the recommended 32 ct summer tan linen with Gloriana silk threads in Poinsettia and Olive Grove. The finishing kit came from Jackie at Its Fine-ally Finished.
The closed herringbone stitch on the strawberries was lovely to do and I enjoyed this project immensely. Most of the stitching was done outside at the sandpit with the kids. The finishing took around 8 hours to do. I put up some pictures of the finishing process step by step over here if you'd like to take a look. Maybe they can be of assistance to anyone working on this project.
Thank-you, Ashley. I will be doing this project on the Yahoo Groups Stitching Small SAL in June '06. These pictures will truly help me when it comes to the finishing. I have chosen to do the black version of this project. Isn't Ellen Chester just the best? I'm doing her Bunnies in the Garden right now:)
Thanks, again...this is going to help me alot!
