The diagnosis is in ...

Well, the results of the MRI plus the report from the physio have resulted in a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Its very mild and I am actually quite pleased with this diagnosis as its a lot better than any others we could have received.
The lesion that he has on his brain was caused either during the last three months of pregnancy or during the birth, there is no way of telling, except to know that it happened during that approximate time period.
The lesion lies on the left side where the nerve bundles from the cerebral hemispheres enter the corpus callosum. The problem with the siting of the lesion is that it may affect other areas of his body, not just the motor functions and not only on the right side.
In terms of where a lesion could be its not the best place, but the doctor was keen to reassure me that it doesn't mean that Seb won't be able to do almost anything he wants.
So now we have a letter for physiotherapy and Seb has to keep coming back every year to the neurologist. He may end up with some other problems like dyslexia etc, but we can hope that the current limitations (un-noticeable unless you observe him carefully) are all that occur.
And I guess that's that for today ...
