Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Today we took the kids to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I loved it! The kids were pretty good - Seb was captivated, but Joe had to be fed a constant supply of chocolate (rather apt!) to keep him quiet. Joe also took great umbrage at Violet Beauregard being turned into a blueberry. I see a morbid and unresolved fear of blueberries in his future ;)

Johnny Depp was fantastic as Willie Wonka. We were a little upset that they substituted dollars for pounds in the movie (when Charlie finds the money in the snow) but best of all, Mrs Gloop looks just like our next door neighbour.

We went walking around some home living shops which was nice. Saw some lovely persian carpets that inspired us for the choices for our living room, then had an ice cream and came home. Then the fun started.

I went to go buy some trainer wheels for Seb's bike. I came back and he refused to go downstairs to try them out. After much yelling (both of us) he eventually came downstairs, only for us to discover that the trainer wheels didn't fit properly and we needed to walk the bike back to the bike shop to have them fitted by the bike guy. Seb then started yelling because he wanted to ride his bike and he couldn't now because it was going to be at the shop. Then Joe was yelling because he didn't want to wear the bike helmet we bought him. Then both of them were yelling in tandem. I tell you, its days like this that make you long to be a parent (not!)

We are home now, the bike is in the bike shop having the wheels fitted, they have relaxed somewhat and in return for all the yelling Seb has had a moratorium placed on playing computer games until I decide he can do it again. He's doing his best impersonation of a combination of Mike Teavee and Veruca Salt at this moment. Ugh.
