Stitching Update 24 June 2005

The world of stitching is full indeed ... and most of it with WIPs that I need to finish! I've had a pretty good week.

I can complete the Aion Heart Sampler tonight. I only have the beads to attach and the outer border (plain green line) to stitch. I had thought of putting a verse into the piece, but I've decided I'll just add in a row beneath the strawberry border to say 'Wrought in Amsterdam, in the Year 2005 by Ashleigh Meier'. So I'm stitching the border on the other three sides and I'll see how it looks when I get to the bottom. I might just leave it without a provenance.

I finished Ellen Chester' s Bunnies in the Garden design yesterday. The only thing I had left was the ruffled ribbon to attach to the scissor weight. I love it! Its so pretty and Seb finds it quite entrancing too - the little pincushion inside comes off and attaches with a button and the whole piece fits in the palm of your hand.

I joined the Sampler House exchange on Legacy and I'm looking forward to pulling out all my threads tomorrow to get a selection ready for the design I plan to stitch. I'm not sure yet what I'll make. Maybe a sachet, maybe a pincushion... I'll see how the design lends itself to something nice afterwards. I've got some lovely silk material here so I'm going to try and match the threads I choose to the silk backing. Let's see how it pans out.

I got the new Blackbird Designs Loose Feathers in the post and the linen looks nothing like that in the photograph! It still seems a pretty nice composition with the threads so I'll leave it as it is. Its a nice design!

I bought this cutie from Aion Designs. Its called A Friendship Sampler and it looks really nice! I intend to make it up as a needleroll.

I also mailed Lois at Elegant Stitch because I was sad that I hadn't had the cash for the Beekeeper Class at the time it was offered. She says she is offering a new class in January and I'm on the list for it! Yay!

I've been watching all the blogs with the Indigo Rose Arm Chair Keeper and I'm so jealous! Waah! I wish I had signed up. Of course, I already have an armchair keeper and I didn't have time, but I'm still jealous!

That's about it for this week.

Ashleigh,
I just read through your blog and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I can't believe that you can get so much stitching done.
When rereading your blog I did not find the pictures from Nancy with the lady standing in her stance. I can't believe that I had never come across a blog until the other day. I commend you on your ideas and finishing techniques. You were an inspiration to me tonight. I have been at the commputer for hours. I am in pain but I just couldn't stop. I am not sure just how to read the blog since I missed Nancy's pictures of your gift. I had to look one more time. Oh well I must get some sleep. Take care and keep the stitching up and the designing coming. Bless you, Judy

Ashleigh,
I found you again tonight under "stitching in Holland", then it took me to Peacock's Feather. On that blog was Once UPon a Stitch which was the blog where I found the two ladies and the next picture was of the samplers. Which I wrote you about. It was on the March 2 o6 blog. Gosh I got lost on the blogs. I couldn't find my way back to you. Maybe I should go stitch and not type. But this is keeping my mind off the pain. I could hardly walk today. Not good! I tried to make notes of graphs which I saw on the blog and would like to do but now I can;t read all my notes. I don't lilke having this proglem. The Santa from Pat Thorde is so cute but I don't remember if that was yours or Peacock Feather.
Please thank you for listening and inspiring me to start stitch ing again. This such a joy for me. I thought that I was the only one that had more than one project in my basket. It is very late again and I must get up early to go to the dr.
Keep the stitching going.
