Barbecue Buying

Today we cycled off to have a look at some barbecues. Anyone familiar with our method of purchasing big items as a family will realise that we are still some way off actually purchasing the item. These are the steps:
  1. Discover... that we have an actual need for such a beast. The discovery of this point came about after last summer's very successful group barbecues at our old apartment. We had the first one for this season on 1 May and it was fab, but using the disposable barbecues and having to lean over all the time or crouch to cook was tiring. I am the cook so I am the one who has the hassle.
  2. Research... said item on the internet. I had a look at Weber and discovered that it would be either the One Touch Silver or the Compact Kettle that would do well for us.
  3. Find a local stockist. I found two in our area, both quite a way from our home and none of which offer delivery.
  4. Broach the subject... with the DH and endure many discussions on how it would be expensive and how we could not afford it. Its usually my role to be the one to suggest making the purchase and his to dissent ;)
  5. Touch and feel. Set off to examine said barbecues at the stockist which just happened to be a garden centre (much to the DH's disgust). This was what we did today in the howling wind.
  6. Deliberate. Ruminate ad infinitum over cost and precise placement of the item on our balcony and whether we can afford it. (Most rumination done by the DH).
  7. Transport. Organise with friends to get a ride to the garden centre to purchase the barbecue.
  8. Set up. Eventually get it home and get it set up and ready.
We have just accomplished 'Touch and Feel' and now we are in 'Deliberate and Ruminate'. I just hope summer isn' t over by the time the deliberating is!
