Stitching Blogger's Question of the Week

Have you ever been asked to do model stitching? Did you do it? If so, what was your compensation? (money, stash, etc.) If not, why not? If you haven't done it, if you were asked would you? Why or why not?Well, I do model stitch and have in the past for a ONS and for a designer. The pieces I stitched for the ONS were great to model stitch even though the financial recompense was small. (I got paid with a piece to the same value as the one I had stitched - chart, threads, fabric.) I enjoyed doing them and it was great to help out a friend. It was Jayne at Jayne's Attic in case anyone is interested. The designs were Judy Dixons' Inspirations and Vine Bouquet and some Six Strand Sweets freebies.
Then I started stitching for a designer and I don't know why, but its been really hard going. I finished the first model back in January and sent it onto the designer and then had to re-stitch the same piece again to be framed this time instead of finished as she wanted the first one. The second piece is really slow going and I've run out of some threads which I'm waiting for and it really seems to be dragging! I have another model on the go at the same time and its taking a lifetime too. I find the time constraint terrifying and as a result I end up avoiding the piece constantly. Maybe its also not being able to share my progress that makes it more difficult?
I guess the obligation part of it, even if its for monetary compensation is irksome. I don't know if I can continue with it, even though I like the idea of the money. In fact, I've recently started thinking that I should just send the pieces back to the designer and give up, but then I would feel bad. I think I should just finish them off and then put a moratorium on all future model stitching projects!
