Now, its not just a normal thing where you put the eggs in the garden and have them search for them because a) we don't have a garden and b) I don't do things 'normal' ;)
Our Bunny *ahem* prepares a booklet with clues in it and decorates it with Easter motifs. Each clue leads to a little note which tells you where to find an egg. When the kids have collected all the eggs they have to bring them to Mom and they get their big easter egg. Its great fun! While I'm busy laying out all the eggs and hiding the clues Brad takes them outside to call the Bunny. Calling the Bunny involves running up and down on the lawn outside our apartment block shouting 'Easter Bunny' and 'Paashaas' at the top of their lungs until I say its time to come inside and then the Bunny will have left the clue booklet on the doorstep for them to find.
Here's the rhyme I made up for the clues:
Its Easter …I don't know who's more excited ... me or Sebastian ....And I’ve got to run
But I left you clues that make it fun
To help you find some chocolate eggs
To share with Joe (in case he begs)
You need to find them one by one
Put them in your basket and tell Mom
And when you have them all, a special surprise will be there for …YOU AND JOE!!!The first clue you’ll find behind the door …
The second clue is on the floor …
The third you’ll find not far from there, but don’t get lost – it’s on a chair.
The fourth you’ll see if you look up, its not that far, it’s on a cup …
The fifth you’ll find where we put our washing, careful of those socks, they’re really ponging!
The sixth is hiding in a plant
The seventh is in your room, don’t say you can’t!
The eighth is hiding under a stair
The ninth on a bed, just over there
The tenth clue you’ll find in Mama’s room, it’s where she puts her things to groom.
The eleventh clue is the very last, and you will find it if you ask … your DAD!I hope that you had lots of fun
I can’t wait to see you when I come
Look out for me, I’m very near,
I can’t stay long this time I fear!
I’ve other kids to go and see,
get them away from their tv.
And help them hunt for chocolate eggs
and then its time for me to rest!Lots of love from The Easter Bunny
Dear Ashleigh
In Ireland people basically hands easter eggs.
Not like the Dutch.
I came up with an idea you may like to try out.
Bring a whole bunch of youngsters.
An ester trail hunt in those lovely woods nearby where you live.
Hang beforehand ribbons on trees which can not be reached by tiny hands and have a friend dressing up as a bunny to be found.
Make teams in different colours and the team which is first to arrive with the coloured ribbons is to win the first prize.
and leave clues on the way up like counting the different flower objects or whatever clues.
and off course have a picnic with hot chocolate milk and one of those camper gas bottles to warm the hot chocolate.
I have never tried this out yet as i live in the wrong country and the irish as nice as they are probably prefer to watch coranation street.
I always loved to do lampion optocht with my kids.
I did once when they were small in my mothers village Zegveld.
But i am positive if you did this eater trail your children and others will have a wonderful day.
My father always did treasurehunts by car and we used to love all the treasure hunt trails.
I am off to write one of your recipes down.
My eldest daughter has an food intolerance to dairy products so if you ever would love to find dairy fee cakes and things my daughter eats and one of your readers asks you for recipes email me and i will sent some.
groetjes Carla
